One of our goals here at Battle Cat Co. is to encourage people to seek out and get training from reputable instructors. This is something I feel incredibly passionate about and is a big driving force behind the creation of this company. So, with that said, whenever I do a particularly interesting course that I feel is worth your time and money, I am going to tell you about it.

Over the weekend I trained with Mike Green and his crew at @greenopsinc for their low light pistol course. I had an incredible time and got a ton of information to take home with me for my own practice. I personally carry a @glock 19 GEN 5 MOS with an @trijicon RMR and a @streamlightTLR1 (It’s name is space gat). I would primarily depend on that TLR1 for night time pew pew’s and have a secondary Streamlight pro-tec that I have for just general use (like digging skittles out from under the driver’s seat of my Jeep). Short of bashing someone in the dome with the bezel, I do not think of that light as something I would use for fighting, specifically gun fighting, mostly because of the TLR1.

So, with that said, I was blown away by the number of techniques Mike and Green Ops brought to the table regarding how I could effectively use, what I call my “general purpose” light, for fighting with the space gat. While I will still likely rely on my TLR1, these tactics are gold to me as they provide more tools for the tool box and more ways of being an effective asset for myself, and the people I care most about in the world. If you are going to carry a light, its best to know how to use it. This course is a great way to get yourself comfortable with the night.

While this low light course was not a beginner course, and I have not taken any of Green ops’ lower level courses, I would absolutely recommend Green Ops to anyone of any skill level. The attitude and atmosphere of how Green Ops runs their course is amazing.  I couldn’t help but think that this is by far the top school I would take my girlfriend to for her first shooting course, or any family member or friend who has never done any firearms training. The instructors are attentive and easy to talk to. You can tell that each one of them are on that range with you to help you become a better shooter.

I have done courses at a number of different schools with a lot of different instructors, and was very impressed by how much attention each student got on the range. I personally have been training for years and would consider myself to be more on the advanced side of things. Because of that, I have found that when I go to other schools I don’t end up getting a lot of feedback about how I could improve my shooting. That was not the case with Green Ops and for me, this is where I got the most value from the course. Josh, the instructor who worked with me the most was there by my side for just about every round I shot. He was able to see the minutiae in my performance that could be improved upon that no other instructor has ever mentioned to me. This was priceless and I can’t help but think there are other people out there that would appreciate this as well.

They have a number of other classes and clinics coming up this year. If you are in the Northern Virginia, DC, MD region I would recommend you check them out! Their training schedule can be found at https://www.green-ops.com/2019-schedule-registration
